Race Car Exhibit at Oxbow

Opening Reception: March 14th | 5–7pm

Run dates: March 14-May 5 during bakery business hours
Location: Oxbow Bakery

Longtime Montlake resident Steve Beaudry is sharing a hidden gem with the neighborhood! His exhibition, Grit & Glory Formula 1 1965-1972, features rare Formula 1 photographs he captured while traveling Europe in his VW camper.

The opening reception will be during the first week of the 2026 Formula 1 season—a perfect time for racing fans to experience the sport's golden era through Beaudry's lens. This is the first public exhibition of his work. Prints will be available for purchase. Check out more info here.

Montlake Elementary PTA Spring Auction & Party

Online Auction: March 27 – April 7
Kickoff Party: Friday, March 27 | 6–9 pm @ Tyee Yacht Club

Come join Montlake Elementary for a spring Auction fundraiser! The online auction will run March 27-April 7, with tons of amazing items up for grabs like vacation homes, sports tickets, and more! You can pre-register to bid here.

As we prepare for this exciting event, we are also seeking donations of any kind for the auction, including unused gift cards, vacation homes, restaurant certificates, or other items you'd like to contribute. More details are here.

We are also excited to share that we’re kicking off the online auction with an in-person community celebration on March 27, 6-9PM, at the Tyee Yacht Club. Join fellow Montlake neighbors for a night of food, music, and fun! Tickets are $60 per person through March 7 - but hurry, prices go up on March 8! Get your tickets here.

Montlake Community Center Spring Registration

Date: Tuesday, March 3rd

Mark your calendars! Montlake Community Center spring registration opens 3/3 at noon, with summer activity camp registration following on 3/17 at noon. We’re excited to roll out a fresh mix of new classes and summer camps—don’t miss out!

South Portage Bay & Playfield Visioning Session

Date: March 14 | 11:00-12:00pm
Location: Tudor Building - 1618 E. Calhoun St

Want to learn about how the park and shoreline have changed over time? Want to discover what could be accomplished in the future?

Community Conversation: The Future of Montlake Homes

Date: April 25th

Time: 1:30-3pm

Location: TBD

Join us for a community conversation about the redevelopment of the former Montlake Market site, now known as “Montlake Homes.” We will be joined by Senator Pedersen, Representative Nicole Macri and other local representatives to discuss this project. The meeting will also include updates on Montlake organizations and the Montlake Community Club. We will provide a children’s activity along with refreshments for all attendees.

Urban Survival Skills Fair

Date: April 25th

Time: 12-3pm

Location: Montlake Community Center

Join us for an Urban Survival Skills Fair on April 25th, from 12:00-3:00pm at the Montlake Community Center. This event is hosted by the Montlake Community Center in partnership with the Montlake and Roanoke Emergency Communications Hubs. You can learn skills needed during an emergency and what you can do to be ready if disaster strikes.

Celebrate a Century: Honoring Montlake’s Historic Homes

This year, longtime residents Doug and Tasha realized their home, built in 1926, is turning 100 years old. Inspired by their neighbor Mary Kay—who created a "Happy Birthday" sign for her own centennial home last year—they decided to do the same. Now, they’re inviting fellow Montlake homeowners with century-old houses to join in the fun!

Montlake Elementary School Playground is Now Open to the Public

When: 6PM to dusk on weekdays

Great news from Montlake Elementary School – we are excited to share that the Montlake Elementary Playground is now open to the public beginning at 6PM-dusk during the weekdays through the end of the school year. Please note that due to Montlake’s after school program utilizing the space, the playground is not open until 6PM.

In the weeks ahead, Montlake Elementary will share an update on the playground’s weekend and summer hours as well. Please note that there are cameras in the perimeter and any afterhours activity in the playground area is recorded by the SPS Department of Safety and Security.

2026 Montlake Garden & Art Tour

Saturday, June 27th | 11am-3pm

Mark your calendar! The Montlake Community Club is excited to announce the second annual Montlake Garden & Art Tour, Saturday, June 27, 2026. The self-guided tour through the Montlake neighborhood will offer a chance to slow down, take a stroll and discover the creativity growing right next door. This year's tour will feature all new gardens and artwork and a chance to meet the creators. The tour will be held rain or shine!

Call for Input for City Council

Do you have ideas for things that could be improved for our neighborhood? Is there something you think the city needs to address? This can be anything from a bad sidewalk to ideas for beautification.

Rachel represents our neighborhood and is looking for input. Fill out this form with any ideas you have and she will bring them up quarterly.

Montlake Emergency Hub News

Montlake Emergency Hub is sharing tips from the Emergency Management Division of Washington, www.DisasterReadyWashington.com, to help you prepare for natural disasters. Spend 1 hour each month to make progress on this essential goal. In January and February, you created Communication and Action Plans. This month prepare a Safe Water Supply.

Monthly Tip: March – Safe Water Supply

During a disaster, our city’s infrastructure may be damaged and water supplies disrupted due to broken pipes and damaged treatment plants.

To preserve water, shut off the main house valve in the home (not the street valve). This traps water in household items such as the hot water heater and toilets that may be used if other stored water is not available. Other sources of water include streams, lakes, and rivers. Take inventory of your surroundings and identify other such sources.
Sources of water that may be contaminated should be purified before use. Most viruses and bacteria can be killed by boiling water (rolling boil for one minute) and adding chlorine bleach. You can also add a water filter to your emergency kit (many options are available at REI).
Households should store one gallon per person per day for two weeks, or 14 gallons per person. The gallon per person per day covers one quart of water for drinking and the remaining for cooking and hygiene.
Soda bottles are recommended for storing water over milk jugs since the caps provide a better seal and the plastic does not break down as quickly. Avoid using glass bottles or anything that has held toxic materials.
Storage containers should be rinsed with a mixture of 8-10 drops of chlorine bleach in two cups of water. Empty the solution and fill the container with fresh water. Tightly seal the container, date it and label it “Drinking Water” and store it in a cool, dark place. Stored tap water is safe for 6-months; store bought water for up to two years.

In Other News

Washington Senate passes bill regulating license plate reader data. Flock Safety cameras, which use AI to take photos of vehicles and log license plates, have been adopted by over 76 jurisdictions in Washington state, including Seattle.

The Washington State Senate passed a bill (SB 6002) on Feb 5th with a 40-9 margin, aiming to set statewide regulations on ALPR technology

Restrictions and Regulations: The legislation restricts camera use to the investigation of felonies or missing persons and bans federal use
Data Retention Limits: The bill proposes strict limits on how long data can be stored, with initial proposals targeting a 72-hour deletion period
Next Steps: The bill is moving to the House of Representatives for further consideration. Find out more here

Ring canceled its planned partnership with Flock Safety on Feb 12 following public privacy concerns.

From Neighbor Leslie: As more leaves fall, did you know that you’re responsible for your curb as a homeowner? Seattle storm drains flow directly to rivers, lakes, creeks, and the Puget Sound, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. It’s your responsibility to keep the gutter clean. In fact, there is a volunteer program called Adopt a Storm Drain
