Montlake Garden & Art Tour

When: Sat June 27th | 11am - 3pm
Where: Montlake

Please join us for the Montlake Garden & Art Tour, Saturday, June 27, 2026! The self-guided tour of 9 gardens and 3 art studios through the Montlake neighborhood will offer a chance to slow down, take a stroll and discover the creativity growing right next door. There will be other fun things going on including the popular Passport Raffle from last year, events at participating Montlake businesses and an educational booth staffed by the UW Botanic Gardens. A $15 donation to the Montlake Community Club is required to gain entry to the gardens and art studios. At check-in you will receive a wristband which will be your “ticket”. Would you like to volunteer as a docent for the event? Shifts will be two hours (11am-1pm or 1-3pm) so that docents are still  able to enjoy the tour themselves and complimentary entry is provided for volunteers. Save the Date: Gateway Parks Work Party

When: June 14th | 10am - 1pm
Where: West Gateway Park

Come join neighbors as we continue pulling ivy and cleaning debris in the West Gateway Park. We made a huge dent in April and May and will renew the battle in June!  We had 11 people in May.  Let’s try to get to 15 in June…there’s plenty to do for everyone! 

If you have tools and gloves, please bring them. If not, we have extras.   

Hop-In Site Survey: Share Your Vision!

Now that the Hop-In site is no longer needed for 520 construction, the State has deeded the land to the City of Seattle’s Office of Housing. The current plan is to develop the site into affordable homeownership (condominiums) for approximately 50 families.

Some neighbors have expressed interest in also adding a grocery store to this location. In anticipation of our meeting with the Office of Housing on June 5 to discuss the development, the Montlake Community Club wants to hear from you!

We want to know what you valued most about the Hop-In and—if adding a grocery store isn't feasible—what other commercial uses you envision for the space.

Art Walk & Concert

When: Thursday, June 11th | 5 - 8pm
Where: Montlake Elementary School

Art Walk is less than a month away! Walk the 2nd and 3rd floors to take in incredible K–5 artwork, bid on beloved student art raffle pieces, and head to the cafeteria for a live vocal and instrumental concert. Dinner is provided by Dua Cocina (pasta, focaccia, and salad with vegan/GF options), along with end-of-night Otter Pops! A suggested donation helps cover costs.

Please bring a water bottle, a grocery bag to carry your student's art home, and 30 minutes of your time to volunteer.

Library News

This summer we will have lots of events for all ages at the Montlake Library! In June we will have 5 programs! Family Story Time is every other Monday at 10:30 A.M. on June 1st, June 15th, and June 29th and is for kids 0-5 and their caregivers. At Family Story Time, we read stories, sing songs, and have engaging, educational activities that help kids and their caregivers grow together! We will host How To Write an Obituary on Saturday, June 6th from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. During this event, New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Morris will help you create a meaningful obituary for a family member, friend, pet, or yourself. The week after school gets out, we will host Summer Quest: Upcycled Art Club for Kids on Tuesday, June 23rd from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. We will join local artist Purrdie Burrdie to create vibrant art journals and keepsakes that celebrate individuality while fostering environmental awareness.

Request from Neighbors: Nany Share

Hello!

We are looking for another family to join a nanny share in Montlake starting in September. Our daughter will be about five months old then. I teach at Montlake Elementary, and we are hoping to find a nearby family with a baby around the same age. Our ideal start is September, but we have some flexibility and could make an October start work if needed. We can host at my mom’s house in Montlake, and we’re open to alternating or a different location if that’s a better fit for both families. If you’re interested or have questions, I’d love to connect. We also welcome any recommendations for infant care in the neighborhood.

Arboretum Waterfront Trail: Phase 1 Construction Begins This June!

Seattle Parks and Recreation has secured permits and will begin Phase 1 construction on the Foster Island section of the trail by June 2026. This work will upgrade supports, floats, and railings to keep the walkway accessible and above water year-round, though a portion of the trail will be closed to the public during construction. Additionally, thanks to the 1,200+ neighbors who helped secure funding through our survey, Phase 2 design work for Marsh Island is now underway and expected to reach 60% completion this summer.
